Recovering rsETH from Sunset Networks

What changed in October 2026

We first published this guide in June 2026. Since then, two things have changed, and this update covers them.

First, after the rsETH bridge moved to Chainlink CCIP, the old rsETH on Base, Mantle and Ink can no longer be bridged. The move was completed on October 5, 2026. If you still hold the old rsETH on any of these three networks, you can now recover it with the same steps as the other EVM networks in this guide.

Second, Linea was missing from our June list. The old rsETH on Linea was retired on June 15, 2026, together with the other networks, and this guide now covers the process for Linea rsETH too.

Because of the move, six networks (Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism and Zircuit) now have two rsETH tokens: the old rsETH and the new CCIP rsETH. Only the old rsETH can be recovered through the claims process. The move did not add anything to your wallet. You can tell the two tokens apart only by contract address, not by when you got them. Please read "How to tell the two rsETH tokens apart" below before you burn anything.

You can recover until June 15, 2027 (23:59 UTC) on every network in this guide, including Base, Mantle, Ink and Linea. The burn address and the claims email are unchanged. Arbitrum is not part of this program: rsETH there is still live, so never send it to the burn address.

On May 17, 2026, we announced that Kelp is consolidating the networks where rsETH bridging is supported, to keep rsETH on the chains with the strongest security, usage, and integrations. As part of that consolidation, bridging of the old rsETH on the networks in the June list below was retired on June 15, 2026. Separately, on October 5, 2026, rsETH on Base, Mantle and Ink moved to Chainlink CCIP, and the old rsETH token on those three networks was retired.

If you still hold the old rsETH on one of these networks and did not bridge back to Ethereum mainnet before the cutoff, this guide explains how to recover it.

Your rsETH backing is safe. The rsETH that backs bridged balances is held on Ethereum mainnet. Retiring bridging on a network does not change that backing or your ability to recover it. It changes where and how you complete the recovery.

Networks affected

Retired on June 15, 2026. Bridging of the old rsETH is no longer supported on:

Optimism, Linea, Manta, Mode, Blast, Scroll, X Layer, zkSync, Zircuit, Swellchain, Hemi, Berachain, Sonic, HyperEVM, Unichain, TAC, Avalanche, Plasma, Stable, MegaETH, Monad, Movement.

(Linea was retired in June with the others but was missing from our original guide.)

Retired on October 5, 2026. The old rsETH token on Base, Mantle and Ink. rsETH on these three networks now uses Chainlink CCIP.

rsETH continues to work as usual on Ethereum mainnet. Arbitrum is the only network where the old rsETH still bridges. The new CCIP rsETH can be bridged to and from Ethereum on Base, Mantle, Ink and Linea, and from Optimism back to Ethereum.

How to tell the two rsETH tokens apart

On Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism and Zircuit, two different tokens now use the symbol rsETH. They have different contract addresses and different full names: the old token is "KelpDao Restaked ETH" and the new one is "rsETH". The move to CCIP did not add a token to anyone's wallet. You hold the new CCIP rsETH only if you bridged rsETH in through CCIP, unwrapped wrsETH on a network where unwrapping returns it, or received it from someone else, a DEX or another protocol. On Linea, Optimism and Zircuit the new CCIP rsETH has existed since 2025, so rsETH you got there before October can be either token. Go by the contract address, not by when you got it. If you hold both, they are two separate balances: recover the old one and keep the new one.

• The old rsETH is the token this guide helps you recover. It can no longer be bridged.

• The new CCIP rsETH is the token rsETH now uses on these networks. It bridges to and from Ethereum through Chainlink CCIP on Base, Mantle, Ink and Linea, and back to Ethereum from Optimism. On Zircuit it can no longer be bridged. It is not part of the recovery program, and you do not need to recover it.

Never send the new CCIP rsETH to the burn address. Only the old rsETH can be recovered through the claims process. CCIP rsETH sent to the burn address is lost.

To check which one you hold, look at the token's contract address. Your wallet usually shows it in the token's details, or you can look up your wallet address on the network's block explorer and open the rsETH token from there. Then compare it with this table:

Use the row for the network you hold rsETH on. If your token's contract address does not match the "Old rsETH" address on that row, do not burn it. The address 0x4186BFC76E2E237523CBC30FD220FE055156b41F is also the live rsETH on Arbitrum, which is not part of this program, so never burn rsETH on Arbitrum. On the other networks in this guide, the old rsETH is the only rsETH token. If you are not sure, email claims@kelpdao.xyz before you do anything.

If you hold the new CCIP rsETH on Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea or Optimism, you can keep it, or bridge it to Ethereum with Chainlink's Transporter. CCIP rsETH on Zircuit can no longer be bridged. If you hold any, please email claims@kelpdao.xyz.

If you bridged back before the cutoff

Nothing further is needed. Your rsETH is already on Ethereum mainnet and remains fully usable.

If you still hold the old rsETH on a sunset network

You can recover it. In short, you burn the old rsETH on the network you hold it on (if you hold wrsETH, you unwrap it first, except on Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism and Zircuit, where wrsETH now unwraps to the new CCIP rsETH), pay a flat recovery fee in USDC on Ethereum mainnet, and send us both transactions. Once a quarter, Kelp sends you the equivalent rsETH on Ethereum mainnet.

Eligibility

• Old rsETH you held on the network at its cutoff (June 15, 2026 for the networks retired in June, including Linea; October 5, 2026 for Base, Mantle and Ink), either in your own wallet or in a DeFi position there (for example a liquidity pool or lending market).

• The wallet that actually holds the rsETH. On EVM networks, you recover to the same address you burn from. On Movement, your rsETH is sent to the Ethereum address you give in your email, which must be the address you paid the recovery fee from (see the Movement network section).

This guide covers rsETH held directly in your wallet. If your rsETH was deposited into a third-party protocol on a sunset network (for example a liquidity pool or a lending market), withdraw it back into your own wallet first and follow the guide.

Recovery window

Recovery is available through June 15, 2027 (23:59 UTC) on every network in this guide, including Base, Mantle, Ink and Linea. By then, burn your old rsETH (on Movement, send it to the recovery Safe), pay the fee and email claims@kelpdao.xyz. Your backing remains claimable throughout this window.

Recovery fee

A flat recovery fee of 100 USDC per address, per network, applies, consistent with our May 17 announcement. If you recover on two networks, the fee is 200 USDC.

The fee is paid in USDC on Ethereum mainnet, separately from your rsETH. Because it is a fixed, stablecoin amount, it does not affect the rsETH price or reduce the rsETH you recover. You receive the full equivalent of the rsETH stuck on a sunset chain.

How to recover, step by step

(Applies to EVM networks. Movement has its own process, described below.)

1. Convert your wrsETH (wrapped rsETH) to rsETH

On some networks, rsETH is held in its wrapped form, wrsETH. First convert it back to rsETH on the network you hold it on. The exact steps differ from one network to another. Follow the per-network instructions in the section below, and if anything is unclear, email claims@kelpdao.xyz before proceeding.

Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea and Optimism work differently now. On these five networks, unwrapping wrsETH gives you the new CCIP rsETH, not the old rsETH. The new CCIP rsETH is not part of the recovery program, and it does not need to be: you can keep it, or bridge it to Ethereum with Chainlink's Transporter. Do not burn it. If all you hold on one of these networks is wrsETH, you can stop here. On Zircuit, unwrapping also gives you the new CCIP rsETH, which can no longer be bridged, so if you hold wrsETH on Zircuit, email claims@kelpdao.xyz instead of unwrapping.

2. Burn the rsETH and pay the fee

Once you hold the old rsETH on the source network:

• Check the token contract first if you are on Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism or Zircuit. It must match the "Old rsETH" address on your network's row in the table above.

• Send your old rsETH (not wrsETH, and not the new CCIP rsETH) to the burn address 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD on that same network. This permanently removes the bridged rsETH from circulation.

Important: on networks where wrsETH still unwraps to the old rsETH, you must convert it in step 1 first. Only the old rsETH sent to the burn address can be recovered. The new CCIP rsETH, wrsETH, or any other token sent to the burn address is lost and cannot be recovered.

• Separately, send 100 USDC to the Kelp recovery fee address on Ethereum mainnet: 0x97934e25451d7b667A804FD801B996733Ac4F6f6.

Use the same EVM wallet address for both. This is the address where you will receive your rsETH. If your rsETH is in a smart contract wallet (for example a Safe), make sure you control the same address on Ethereum mainnet before you burn, or email claims@kelpdao.xyz first.

3. Send us both transactions

Email claims@kelpdao.xyz with the subject line [Network] - rsETH recovery - [your address], and include:

• The burn transaction (the transfer to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD) on the source network.

• The 100 USDC fee transaction on Ethereum mainnet sent to 0x97934e25451d7b667A804FD801B996733Ac4F6f6.

• The EVM address you used. This is where your rsETH will be sent.

claims@kelpdao.xyz is the only official channel for recovery. We will never DM you first.

4. Receive your rsETH on Ethereum mainnet

Kelp processes recoveries once per quarter. For each verified burn on an EVM network, we send the equivalent amount of rsETH to your EVM address on the Ethereum mainnet and share the settlement transaction so you can confirm receipt on Etherscan.

Movement network

Since Movement is not an EVM network, the steps above do not apply. The recovery path for rsETH on Movement is as follows:

1. Send Movement rsETH to the Kelp Recovery Safe on Movement chain: 0xd630ca1baacd5335a4cc16755c3c1c8a44f2d8322626f5dcafeaea77f56cc474.

2. Pay the recovery fee. Send 100 USDC to the Kelp recovery fee address on Ethereum mainnet - 0x97934e25451d7b667A804FD801B996733Ac4F6f6, the same fee that applies to EVM recoveries. Make sure you pay the fees from the Ethereum address where you want the rsETH payout.

3. Send an email to claims@kelpdao.xyz with: the subject Movement - rsETH recovery - [your Movement address]; the transaction hash for the rsETH transfer to the recovery Safe on Movement chain; the Ethereum mainnet fee transaction hash (it must be from the same address you are requesting the payout to); and your desired Ethereum payout address.

4. We will review that email and reply in the same email thread with a one-time, exact-amount MOVE challenge: a small but random amount of MOVE tokens that you will have to send to Kelp's recovery Safe. The challenge expires after 30 days, so please execute the transfer within 30 days.

5. Send the exact MOVE challenge amount from the same Movement address to the same recovery Safe.

6. Once the MOVE tokens are sent, share the transaction hash on the same email thread.

7. After we verify the information provided, we send the equivalent rsETH to your Ethereum address in the next quarterly settlement.

Per-network: converting wrsETH to rsETH

If you hold rsETH on Arbitrum

rsETH on Arbitrum is still live and is not part of this program, so please do not send it to the burn address. You can bridge it to and from Ethereum in the Kelp app: https://kerneldao.com/kelp/bridge-wrap

Before you start

• Access to the wallet that holds the rsETH on the source network.

• Gas on the source network to convert and to send the burn transaction.

• 100 USDC plus gas on Ethereum mainnet to pay the recovery fee.

Things to keep in mind

• Recovery is processed quarterly, not instantly. Once your transactions are verified, your rsETH is included in the next quarterly settlement.

• The burn is permanent. Sending rsETH to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD destroys it on that network. Only burn the old rsETH, as part of recovery. rsETH you get by unwrapping wrsETH on Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism or Zircuit is the new CCIP rsETH: never burn it.

• Check which rsETH you hold before you burn. On Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism and Zircuit, only the old rsETH in the table above can be recovered. The new CCIP rsETH sent to the burn address is lost.

• Pay the fee in USDC on Ethereum mainnet. Do not send other tokens or pay on another network.

• You receive the full equivalent rsETH. The fee is separate, so it does not reduce your recovered amount.

• On EVM networks, you recover to the same address you burn from, and rsETH is sent to that address on Ethereum mainnet. On Movement, rsETH is sent to the Ethereum address you give in your email, the one you paid the recovery fee from (see the Movement network section).

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why were these networks retired?

A: We consolidated the networks where rsETH bridging is supported to keep rsETH on the chains with the strongest security, usage, and integrations. This is a network-support decision and does not affect rsETH backing. Base, Mantle and Ink were not retired: rsETH there moved to Chainlink CCIP on October 5, 2026, and only the old rsETH token on those networks was retired.

Q: I hold both the old rsETH and the new CCIP rsETH. Which one do I burn?

A: Only the old rsETH. Check its contract address against the table in "How to tell the two rsETH tokens apart" above. The other one is the new CCIP rsETH. You can keep it or bridge it, but never send it to the burn address: it is not part of the program, and it would be lost.

Q: I unwrapped my wrsETH and got the new CCIP rsETH. Can I recover it?

A: No, and you don't need to. On Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea and Optimism, you can keep it, or bridge it to Ethereum with Chainlink's Transporter. On Zircuit it can no longer be bridged, so please email claims@kelpdao.xyz. It is not part of the recovery program, so please do not burn it.

Q: I hold CCIP rsETH on Zircuit. What can I do?

A: CCIP rsETH on Zircuit can no longer be bridged, and it is not part of the recovery program. Please email claims@kelpdao.xyz.

Q: I hold rsETH on Arbitrum. Do I need to do anything?

A: No. rsETH on Arbitrum still works as usual and is not part of this program. Please do not burn it.

Q: I missed the June 15 or October 5 cutoff. Can I still get my rsETH?

A: Yes, if you held the old rsETH on that network at its cutoff (see Eligibility). Recovery is available through June 15, 2027 (23:59 UTC). Follow the steps above and email claims@kelpdao.xyz with your two transactions.

Q: How much does recovery cost?

A: 100 USDC per address, per network, paid in USDC on Ethereum mainnet. The fee is a fixed stablecoin amount, so it does not affect the rsETH price and does not reduce the rsETH you recover.

Q: Why is the fee in USDC?

A: Paying a fixed amount in USDC keeps the fee separate from rsETH, so there is no price impact and you receive the full equivalent of what you burned.

Q: When will I receive my rsETH?

A: Recoveries are settled once per quarter. After your burn and fee transactions are verified, your rsETH is sent in the next quarterly settlement.

Q: What is the difference between wrsETH and rsETH?

A: On many of these networks rsETH is held in a wrapped form, wrsETH. On most of them, you convert wrsETH back to rsETH before burning; see the per-network section. On Base, Mantle, Ink, Linea, Optimism and Zircuit, unwrapping now gives you the new CCIP rsETH, which is not part of the recovery program.

Q: What will I receive?

A: The equivalent amount of rsETH you burned, on Ethereum mainnet, sent to the same EVM address you used. It is the same token, fully backed.

Q: Is my rsETH safe?

A: Yes. The rsETH that backs your bridged balance is held on Ethereum mainnet and remains claimable throughout the recovery window. Retiring bridging on a network does not affect that backing.

Q: I hold rsETH on Movement. What do I do?

A: Movement is not an EVM network, so the EVM steps above do not apply. See the Movement network section after the recovery path. If anything is unclear, email claims@kelpdao.xyz.

Q: My rsETH is in a DeFi position on one of these networks, not in my wallet. What do I do?

A: Withdraw it back into your own wallet first, then follow the steps above.

Q: Is there a deadline?

A: Yes. Recovery is available through June 15, 2027 (23:59 UTC) on every network in this guide, including Base, Mantle, Ink and Linea. By then, burn your old rsETH (on Movement, send it to the recovery Safe), pay the fee and email claims@kelpdao.xyz.

Q: What about tax?

A: We cannot provide tax advice. Please consult a qualified tax professional about your own situation.

Q: What if I lose my keys or wallet?

A: Recovery requires sending transactions from the wallet that holds the rsETH. If you lose your private keys or seed phrase, you lose access to that wallet, and we cannot recover on your behalf. Keep your recovery phrase secure and backed up.

Q: Who do I contact?

A: Email claims@kelpdao.xyz. This is the single official channel for rsETH sunset recovery.

Beware of impersonation

Kelp will never DM you first, never ask for your seed phrase or private keys, and never direct you to a different recovery address or website. Anyone doing so is a scammer. The only channel for rsETH sunset recovery is claims@kelpdao.xyz, and the only recovery fee address is the one published in this guide. When in doubt, verify there before acting.
